Jennifer Thieme's Bio:

Jennifer Thieme brings 20 years of business development and support experience to the Ruth Institute. An accounting entrepreneur for nearly 20 years, she built a successful accounting firm that serviced clients across the United States. In order to take advantage of the internetâ's marketing opportunities, in 2007 she constructed and managed what is now one of the most popular QuickBooks information websites on the internet and cultivated a loyal list of 3,000 newsletter subscribers. The 250 page website successfully served as a platform to market her QuickBooks consulting services to clients across the nation. A few of her more interesting assignments include serving as an expert witness in an embezzlement case; preparing monthly financials for a very promising startup clothing manufacturer; creating ad hoc reports in QuickBooks that are supposed to be impossible to create; and being called upon for QuickBooks advice from CPAs, MBAs, and others with excellent business credentials. With her keen understanding of accounting for small firms and her internet marketing skills, she started to feel she had reached the top of the ladder as a freelancer and was eager for something new. When the opportunity arose to go on board full time with the Ruth Institute, she negotiated and sold her business within six weeks. She's passionate about all aspects of business support, including sales, accurate financial information, company culture and employee morale, donor development, persuasive writing, internet marketing, and human resources. An avid reader, she's a former homeschooling mom with three grown children. Her articles have appeared in an eclectic mix of publications, including the Intuit ProConnection Newsletter, NBiz Magazine, and Practical Homeschooling. She's also the author of the Get More from QuickBooks series of eBooks.

Formerly the Ruth Institute Operations Director, Ms. Thieme now serves as the Director of Finance and Advancement. Her duties include providing Dr. Morse with updated financial information; negotiating leases and contracts; creating and editing optimized content for Ruth Institute internet properties; managing the direct mail calendar; drafting and editing grant proposals, direct mail letters, and other content; overseeing Ruth Institute's outstanding proposals, a/r and a/p; managing Ruth's staff members, their payroll and scheduling; and event planning. She loves to think outside the box - she recently unified Ruth's email platform by moving all staff members to Google Apps for Business, and was then able to develop a free phone system for Ruth's new office through Google Voice. She also developed a unified way to manage and monitor employee time sheets and expense reports through Google Docs. These developments will improve efficiency and provide improved features/benefits, while saving the Institute over $5,000 per year.
